Mike Just

 

 

Mike Just was born and raised in Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey.  He played Little League on up in the Woodcliff Lake area and attended St. Joseph Regional High School in Montvale.  He played professionally for four years yet started out no different than any other aspiring pro athlete with heart.

Known as Mr. Automatic in high school, he was All-State in NJ after hitting .523 at St. Joseph Regional (Montvale).
He was All Big South Conference and All-State for the State of VA at D1 Liberty University where he hit .379 with 94 hits (single season hit record for Liberty.) 
According to the NCAA, in 2004 Mike was 12th in the nation in hardest to strike out!

He signed with the River City Rascals in the Frontier League of Professional Baseball where he received the team batting title with a .317 average.

He alone was traded for 5 players to the Fargo Moorehead RedHawks in the Northern League of Professional Baseball where he received the batting title again while he led his team in the following categories: .336 average, 20 steals, and 24 doubles.  Mike was named Rookie of the Year for the Northern League in 2007, making the 2nd half All-Star team and he only committed 5 errors in 94 games while receiving Defensive Player of the Year for 2nd Base!

The Houston Astros then purchased Mike Just’s contract.  He was the top hitting second baseman the whole month of March in Spring Training with over a .350 average and a perfect 10 for 10 on steals where the coaches in the Astros organization dubbed him the nickname “Anama Secreto” (Secret Weapon.)

Mike played in 2008 for the Newark Bears in the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball where he led his team in steals and a high percentage of the League’s roster is made up of Big League players!

In 2009, Mike signed with the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs after he alone was traded for former Big Leaguer pitcher Matt Hensley and former triple A infielder Enohel Polanco (cousin of Placido Polanco.)  In 2009, Mike won the prestigious MVP of the All Star Game in the Atlantic League with the game winning hit off of Armando Benitez!

A banner of Mike's MVP accomplishment is hanging in Regency Furniture Stadium where the Blue Crabs play. Mike was the first player in organization history to be named All Star MVP

Since 2010 MIke has been the owner and operator of Just Hits Professional Baseball and Softball Instruction in Ramsey, NJ. Just Hits is the North Jersey's Premier Professional Instructional facility
